Shetty was heading back home after a long day at work when he boarded an auto-rickshaw at the Majestic bus station. Little did he know, he was about to fall victim to a gang of female extortionists. After going up a certain distance, the women demanded money and threatened to file a complaint of sexual harassment against him if he didn't comply. Fearing the consequences, Shetty gave them all the money he had on him, Rs 3,000.
He filed a complaint with the Upparpet police, and the police were able to catch the duo responsible for his extortion. The women targeted their victims by winking at them and inviting them into their auto-rickshaw before blackmailing them.
Although the police were able to recover the stolen money, four of their associates and an auto-rickshaw driver are still at large. The police have urged the public to be aware and to report any such incidents to the West division control room or the DCP (West). This incident serves as a reminder to always be vigilant and aware of one's surroundings, especially when traveling alone.
