14 year old girl rescued from Delhi Police constable's house
On 2nd June, Bachpan Bachao Andolan and Delhi police officials rescued a 14-year-old girl from the house of a Delhi Police constable in RK Puram police colony. The girl was trafficked from Jharkand and brought to Delhi to work in a placement agency. She managed to escape after being tortured for five months and met the head constable at the railway station, who offered to help her.
However, the girl was forced to do household work and was often beaten up in the constable's house. The torture continued for four years until an anonymous complaint led to the raid and her rescue. The girl was in extreme trauma and couldn't speak a word.
An FIR has been registered under sections 370 and 363 of the Indian Penal Code and other provisions of the Juvenile Justice Act. The Delhi Police confirmed that the Head constable would be arrested for his involvement in the crime.
