Woman sells 12-year-old daughter to alleged rapist for Rs 1 lakh in Pune
A woman in Pune has been booked for allegedly selling her 12-year-old daughter to her alleged rapist for Rs 1 lakh. The rapist raped the girl again before selling her to a brothel at Khed near Pune. The girl's ordeal started on May 27 and ended on September 29 when she escaped from the brothel and took help from an NGO to register a complaint against her mother and others.
The man who visited the brothel raped her again. The girl was harassed and tortured after she resisted and refused to entertain customers. Later, she contacted her teacher in Solapur on the phone and sought help. The teacher advised her to run away and seek police help, following which she also directed her to an NGO in Pune. The girl escaped from the brothel, took a bus to Pune railway station, and contacted an NGO president. The NGO rushed to the railway station, collected her details, and took her to a nearby police station to register a complaint.
The police have booked the girl's mother, the rapist, the brothel owner, and others under sections of the Indian Penal Code and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act. The case has been transferred to Chakan police station in Pune rural as the brothel is located in their limits. The girl will be kept either at the remand home or with the NGO after completing legal formalities.
