Chandigarh, Punjab: Dismissed UT police constable Basant Kumar and his girlfriend Sarita were today remanded to police custody till June 17. Basant Kumar alias Bunty was accused of murdering a Chandigarh Police inspector Sucha Singh on June 8. Bunty was arrested by the Haryana police from a hotel in Paharganj area of New Delhi in the wee hours of Sunday. The lover duo wanted to get married but faced social barriers due to them being from the same village and both belonging to the same Jat 'brotherhood'.
This recent incident adds to the existing criminal charges against Basant Kumar and Sarita. The police custody will allow further investigation into their involvement in the murder of the Chandigarh Police inspector as well as the previous crimes they are accused of. The case has attracted significant attention due to the gruesome nature of the crimes committed and the motive behind them. Authorities are working diligently to gather evidence and ensure justice is served for the victims and their families.
