Two Men Kill Sister-in-Law for Railway Job in Kurla, Maharashtra
Pradeep Kumar Dohari, 24, and his 16-year-old brother allegedly killed their sister-in-law, Purnima, at their Kurla residence in Maharashtra. The motive behind the murder was to secure a job in the railways that belonged to Purnima's deceased husband, Manjesh Kumar Dohari. Manjesh had died a day earlier after being paralyzed from the waist down in a bike accident last year.
Although Purnima was the immediate next of kin and eligible for the job, Pradeep and his brother also wanted to secure the job and were surprised to find out that Purnima would get it. The brothers asked Purnima to give them custody of her two-year-old son, Bhavesh, but Purnima refused. The brothers continued to argue with Purnima and left the house after a fight, only to return later that evening.
In the middle of the night, Pradeep woke Purnima's brother, Khushwant Singh, and told him that Purnima was dead. The Nehru Nagar police were called, and during interrogation, the Dohari brothers confessed to strangling Purnima to secure the job in the railways. The Nehru Nagar police arrested the two brothers on murder charges.
