Police in south Delhi have set up five teams to capture three men who are on
the run after kidnapping a 24-year-old woman. The woman was rescued within
hours of her abduction, and two of her kidnappers have been arrested. Police
have offered a reward of Rs.5,000 to the cab driver who called them in time to
help rescue the victim and arrest two of the accused. The houses of the three
absconding kidnappers, Deepak, Ravish Nagar, and Arun, are locked, and police
have sent their teams to Faridabad (Haryana), where they hope to capture them
soon.
Police officials have praised the cab driver, Amit, for his quick action in informing the police. The five men, who were drunk, kidnapped the woman in south Delhi near the Ghitorni Metro station and drove her away forcibly. The woman was with three other female friends in a radio taxi and was returning home to Badarpur area. Kartar Singh, 22, and his four friends approached these girls, who had called a cab to take them back to Badarpur, and misbehaved with them. They intercepted the women's cab near Ghitorni Metro station, where they kidnapped the victim. On receiving the information, police rescued the women and arrested two of the kidnappers while three managed to flee.
The three kidnappers, all from well-off families, have completed their Bachelor in Business Administration (BBA), and Deepak is the son of a Haryana Police official.
