Police question husband and his paramour in the murder of film artiste
A month after the discovery of a headless body by the roadside at Ramapuram, the Chennai police have taken in for questioning the deceased woman's husband and a woman believed to be his paramour. The victim was identified as a 36-year-old junior film artiste named Sasi Rekha.
Police sources revealed that the interrogation of the husband, Ramesh Shankar, led to the recovery of the missing head from a canal at Kolapakkam. They are also questioning Lakhiya, an aspiring actress from Kerala, who they believe is involved in the murder.
Sasi Rekha had filed a complaint against her husband for deserting her and living with another woman. The couple had been married for only seven months. Sasi Rekha's body was found by the roadside on January 5, and the police believe that her husband and Lakhiya murdered her.
According to police sources, Ramesh had been involved in several cheating cases in the past, and his previous wife and parents had committed suicide. Ramesh and Lakhiya had been living together in a house located in Madhanandhapuram, near Kundrathur.
The police believe that Ramesh attacked and killed Sasi Rekha during a quarrel, and they later disposed of the body by decapitating it to make identification difficult. Sasi Rekha's complaint against her husband helped the police realise that she was missing.
