Daughter-in-law gets mother-in-law killed over salary and illegal relationship

In a shocking incident in Rampur, a daughter-in-law got her mother-in-law murdered by giving her a betel nut. The victim, Manju Sharma, a 50-year-old Custom Department worker posted in Meerut, was shot dead on May 9. The police investigation revealed that her daughter-in-law, Neelam, had orchestrated the murder with the help of a friend for a sum of Rs 70,000.

The reason behind the murder was the mother-in-law's refusal to give her salary to the daughter-in-law and her knowledge of the latter's illegal relationship. This had led to frequent quarrels between the two. The accused daughter-in-law has been arrested along with four other accomplices, including the men who carried out the murder. The police have recovered a pistol from them.

The incident has sent shockwaves through the area, with many expressing their disbelief at the callousness of the daughter-in-law. The accused have been booked under various sections of the Indian Penal Code, including murder, criminal conspiracy, and illegal possession of arms.
