IT Employee Shot Dead by Ex-Lover at His Wedding in Halisahar, West Bengal

On January 21, 2013, Souvik Dey, a 22-year-old IT employee, was shot and killed by his bride's former lover, Rajib Bose, moments after their wedding ceremony in Nabanagar near Halisahar, West Bengal. Hundreds of guests witnessed the incident, and they caught and beat Rajib before the police arrived to rescue him. Sadly, he later died from his injuries at the hospital.

Souvik and his 20-year-old bride, Sunita Sarkar, were getting married after a year-long affair. However, Rajib Bose, who had previously dated Sunita, was hiding among the guests, unbeknownst to the couple. The police later revealed that Rajib's motive for the murder was his love for Sunita.

Rajib had been harassing Sunita after she ended their relationship early last year. Despite her father lodging a police complaint against him, he continued to stalk and threaten the family. Investigations into the murder are still ongoing.
