Serial killer Cyanide Mohan who killed 20 unmarried girls in Karnataka
Mohan Kumar, also known as Cyanide Mohan, was a physical education teacher in Bantwal Taluk, Karnataka, who killed 20 young girls over a period of five years. His modus operandi was to lure unmarried young girls into marrying him and then give them cyanide under the pretext of an anti-pregnancy pill, killing them the next day after the marriage.
The victims, including Anitha, were given cyanide in pills that Mohan had told them were contraceptives. The case has been taking various turns since the murder of Anitha in 2009. Initially, the police suspected that the girl had been killed due to relationship issues.
Cyanide Mohan was arrested in 2013 and was given the death sentence in 2017 after being convicted of the murders. The case has been one of the most gruesome and infamous serial killings in Karnataka. Mohan's victims were young women from poor families who were vulnerable and could easily be deceived. The horrific case has raised serious concerns about women's safety in the country.
